ALLERDALE currently has the highest coronavirus infection rate in Cumbria, according to official figures.
Data from Public Health England showed that the infection rate in the borough now stands at 160.6 - up from 153.4 yesterday - while Barrow's infection rate has fallen from 171.5 to 156.6
Across the county, Cumbria's infection rate as a whole continued to fall.
The infection rates per 100,000 people for the past seven-day period in each area is:
- Allerdale - 160.6
- Barrow - 156.6
- Carlisle - 103.1
- Copeland - 114.4
- Eden - 60.1
- South Lakes - 53.3
- Cumbria - 108
The total number of people with at least one positive Covid-19 test result since the start of the pandemic in each area is:
- Allerdale - 4,797
- Barrow - 4,088
- Carlisle - 8,063
- Copeland - 2,985
- Eden - 2,928
- South Lakes - 4,353
- Cumbria - 27,214
Figures from NHS England showed the death toll at North Cumbria NHS trust hospitals remains at 501.
Nationally, an additional 9,985 people tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, bringing the total number of cases confirmed across the UK since the start of the pandemic to 4,154,562.
An additional 323 people died within 28 days of a positive test, bringing the total death toll to 122,070.
