The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning.

It is likely that further rain and freezing temperatures may result in icy patches across the area.

They said: "Further showers on Thursday night will leave surfaces wet. As ground temperatures fall below freezing, ice is likely to form in places.

"Some of the showers will be wintry, especially on high ground, with one to two cm of snow possible above 200 metres."

The warning comes into effect across parts of Cumbria from 4pm today (January 21) to 10am tomorrow (January 22).

The Met Office said that icy surfaces will lead to difficult travel conditions.

Adding that there will probably be icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Areas affected include Silloth, Wigton, Keswick, Whitehaven, Workington, Sedburgh and Millom.
