Friends of Adrienne Easterbrook, who tragically died last month, have raised more than £1,000 to thank intensive care staff in her memory.

Adrienne, who worked as general manager of Energus in Workington, died on December 9 after a short illness.

Her friend, Michelle Tinnion, 44, from Dearham, had done many fundraising events for Hospice at Home and was always supported by Adrienne. She had helped with events such as girls’ nights, raffle tickets and finding prizes.

She said a group of Adrienne’s friends wanted to do something special for her, for when she came home after being in hospital and they each contributed towards a hamper.

When Adrienne did not recover, Michelle said: “We thought we have to do something because Adrienne would want to give something back to say thank you.”

The group decided to raffle off the hamper and Michelle said: “We wanted ICU staff to have a gift, so we hoped to get £200.

“We put the hamper on Facebook and what it was for and within the first hour we had smashed £200.

“We couldn’t believe the response.

“I think it was because of Adrienne’s character and that people wanted to show their appreciation for ICU staff.”

At the cut off point for the raffle they had raised an amazing £1082.00.

Michelle added: “It touched the friends, we couldn’t believe the response.”

The group used the money to buy 40 ICU staff at West Cumberland Hospital a £25 Marks & Spencer voucher, 40 boxes of chocolates and biscuits.

Michelle added: “Adrienne would of absolutely 100 per cent wanted to give something back.”
