A NEW ROLE as an operator could be right for you at Sellafield Limited.

Sellafield Limited is arguably the biggest employer in Cumbria and they are offering an exciting opportunity.

Sellafield are currently on the look out for new nuclear operators, who play a key role on the nuclear decommissioning site.

A spokesperson for the company said: “A nuclear operator is responsible for the hands-on operation of plant systems and equipment on the Sellafield site.”

The diverse role can involve anything from control room based work, monitoring plant conditions, following procedures and responding to alarms via systems and computers to hands-on work, such as sampling activities and decommissioning redundant plant and equipment.

Those with good people skills will no doubt thrive in the work on Sellafield site. The spokesperson for Sellafield Limited said: “You will typically be working in teams with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.”

It helps to be physically fit when working as a nuclear operator.

“Some of the roles can be physically demanding and manual tasks, climbing ladders, working at height, operating cranes or fork lift trucks, working in gloveboxes in confined environments, working in confined spaces or hot and cold working environments and responding promptly to emergency situations.”

Safety is of utmost importance at the nuclear decommissioning site. Successful applicants will be required to wear personal protective equipment, respiratory equipment or breathing apparatus.

Working as a nuclear operator, you could earn a salary of £23,269.

Sellafield Limited is also recruiting a senior internal auditor, a risk practitioner and a contaminated land manager.

Placements are available in electrical engineering and apprenticeships in engineering design.

Sellafield require all applicants to have a minimum of three GCSEs at grade C or above.
