AN OPERATIONS team based in Moor Row has celebrated after securing a lucrative contract.

Cumbria O&M Services (COMS), based at the Westlakes Science Park at Moor Row, has secured a contract with Morgan Sindall, worth up to £2.6m.

The contract will see Cumbria O&M deliver pre-operations services at Sellafield Ltd, potentially for the next six years.

COMS started life in 2014 and since then, it has grown considerably over six years, providing pre-operations, maintenance and engineering support to highly regulated industries across the UK.

The team of over 50 specialise in pre-operations and project start-up services ensuring “people, plant and processes” are fit for purpose and facilitate a project’s transition into its operational phase.

Grant Taylor, operations director at COMS was delighted to hear the news.

He said: “It is fantastic to be awarded further work with Sellafield delivering pre-operations support.

“The business has gone from strength to strength over the last few years and securing a large contract like this is another step forward for the business in demonstrating the scope of work our team of engineers can undertake.

“I would like to thank the team at Morgan Sindall, the Sellafield Ltd Supply Chain Team and the delivery area client for giving us this opportunity.

“Hopefully this gives other SMEs within the industry encouragement to bid for and win long term contracts that will allow growth and investment in the local community.”

The contract was awarded under the Sellafield LINC with Tier 2’s scheme aimed at giving small and medium businesses the opportunity to work on contracts or frameworks with Sellafield.
