A kind-hearted woman has had lots of donations flood in as she set up an appeal to collect toys for Cash for Kids – Mission Christmas.

Chloe Bone, from Workington has always donated gifts to the campaign but this year, with Covid-19, she decided to increase the efforts and has been blown away by the donations, both toys and gifts, she has received for the charity.

Chloe explained: “Me and my mam have always bought a couple of gift sets and this year I just thought more children will be struggling with what’s going on with Covid and people losing their jobs.

“So I thought I needed to do a bit more than just the odd gift set.”

Chloe put out a plea on social media for people to get involved with donating to the worthy cause, this was shared and many of her friends quickly told her they wanted to help.

Chloe’s bedroom is currently covered in toys that have been donated.

"A lot has already been given out as well,” she added.

“I know a few people who are social workers and they got in touch asking if I could get some stuff for them.

“But I still have a lot left that will get picked up this week by Cash for Kids. I knew I had a lot of friends that were generous. But I didn’t think I would get the amount I have.

“People I didn’t even know as well have been messaging me. People who cannot get out the house have been donating, they’ve been giving cash.”

Lots of people are still continuing to donate and Chloe will keep collecting them until they are picked up by Cash for Kids.

“I’ve done it every year for the past four or five years,” said Chloe. “But I’ll definitely try and do it like this every year.”

Chloe has also given a £250 donation to Cash for Kids to help buy specialised toys for children with disabilities.
