Fitness fanatics, gym-lovers and those taking the first steps to a healthier lifestyle can rejoice, as a new – and affordable – gym has officially opened its doors.

After moving away from her garage-based training gym, fitness instructor Keri Taylor was sad to leave her clients and work behind.

And so with a five-strong team, made up by herself, husband James, business partner Josh Burns, and trainers Emma Jolly and Kaitlyn Rudd, the Whitehaven woman decided to set up shop, and create New U Functional Fitness.

Together, the group have created a brilliant space suitable for gym-goers of any level to enjoy, with plenty of room to explore new challenges.

In their initial opening weeks, the team will be offering “taster sessions” for those wanting to dip their toe in the water, along with personal training, group training, weight lifting, dance fitness classes and so much more.

“With Christmas coming up, we thought we’d start with a few taster sessions so people could see what they enjoy and make sure they want to join,” Keri said.

“It’ll be really useful for us and the people wanting to sign up, because gyms see such a massive rush of people coming along to get in shape after Christmas.

“So the taster sessions will let people see firstly whether they’d like to join, and then also beat that dash for people signing up, because they’ll already be a member.”

She added: “And it’ll help the people who know they’re signed up, because they’ll be able to eat more at Christmas knowing they’ve already got a gym membership!”

And nobody will have to wait much longer at all for the special sessions, with the swanky new gym, at Cleator Moor, ready to open its doors – today!

Costing just £20 per month if paying for a full year’s membership, or £25 per monthly payment, members will have access to the 24/7 gym all day, every day, as well as discounts on all classes the team has to offer.

But you don’t have to be a member to enjoy the sessions, as anyone and everyone is invited to sign up for the classes and improve their health, membership or no-membership.

Keri said: “We’re looking forward to seeing how many people come along and sign up – we’ve had a few people asking us when we’re opening, and it’s close now so it’s exciting.

“There’s something for everyone, and we really want people to use the taster sessions and see what they enjoy – and get signed up before the mad rush next month!”
