Corkickle residents have been busy getting creative recently, as many families took part in a Halloween and scarecrow display competition.

Copeland and Whitehaven Town Councillor Gemma Dinsdale said: "I was so chuffed by the turnout and think everyone in the area enjoyed it as well."

She added that it was a great way to lift spirits for the little ones in the community as well as the adults and to raise awareness of some local businesses through the prizes.

She added that everyone is looking forward to the competition again next year.

Cllr Dinsdale said: "I would like to say a huge thanks to everyone that took part - the amount of work and detail that went into each display was brilliant to see and of course a huge thanks to our small businesses, particularly Coach Road Motor Works and Truly Scrumptious of Whitehaven for donating their voucher and sweet treats completely free of charge."

She thanked all the donators of prize vouchers.

Prize vouchers came from: Lyndas' Exercise, Castle Knights, The Chase Hotel, Coach Road Motor Works, Truly Scrumptious Bonfire Boxes , and the two sweetie bags were bought from Apple Green Petrol Station.
