Egremont Town Band is on the look-out for new members.

The band has existed since 1904 and is a traditional village brass band. It is comprised of voluntary members of all ages and abilities, who enjoy making music in and for the local area.

They are totally self-financing but are available for local events for both private and charitable public events in West Cumbria.

They have a small, but growing, junior band.

Anyone that wishes to join them is welcome. They rehearse on Monday evenings in the church hall of St Mary’s and Michaels, Egremont.

Junior band starts at 6.30pm and seniors starts at 7.30pm.

They have a website for more information at: www.egremonttownband.com and have a Facebook page ‘Egremont Town Band.’

They hope to resume some of their Christmas events including their Christmas Concert, if Covid restrictions are eased.

Egremont Town Council has just made a donation of £75 to enable the band to purchase instrument shields for each band member to use during this Covid period.

The council said: “Egremont Town Council is fully supportive of our local brass brand and we are proud to give them our support, which will allow them to continue playing in our community for the enjoyment of all.”
