PROPOSALS have been outlined to fell a tree with a protection order in Whitehaven.
Copeland Borough Council have received an application, validated November 9, for the Ash at Standing Rise.
The applicant is listed as Barry Ackerley at the same address.
According to the application form: "An Ash tree at the top of the back garden has been identified with the disease Ash Dieback by a tree surgeon.
"We have been advised that the tree needs to be felled as soon as possible."
In a further letter to the council Mr Ackerley said: "The tree could cause problems to the residents of the old-folks home, Johnson House.
"It could also cause a problem to our neighbours on Woodlands Avenue, they have a log cabin in their garden - branches could go through the roof."
