A FAMILY electrical store will soon celebrate 100 years in business – and our readers were full of praise about the loyal staff.

Brooks of Whitehaven is 97 years old and still in the hands of the Coyles family, who partnered with the original owner.

Store manager David Coyles and his daughter Claire in accounts are the current generation.

Ann Pilkington said of our last Trader of the Week: “I have known all the Coyles family since childhood when my grandparents lived on Esk Avenue.

Ian Woodburn added: “I remember the Coyles family very well. Brian was a childhood friend. There was a gang of us living on Esk Avenue. We played touch rugby on the street. Those were happy times.”

Brian O’Kane said: “A real credit to our town in every respect.”
