Copeland Council has urged residents across the borough to be mindful of the amount of cardboard recycling left at the kerbside.

The west Cumbrian council has made this call in light of the renewed lockdown conditions.

"We are anticipating an increase in cardboard, and we would encourage householders to consider the amount of cardboard being placed at the kerbside," a spokesman for the council said.

"Please make sure you flatten cardboard and squash cans and plastic bottles to fit in your boxes and bag.

"If necessary use bring sites or household waste recycling centres as part of essential journeys."

Household waste recycling centres in the area can be found in Frizington, Maryport and elsewhere.

The Frizington centre is currently open Mondays to Sundays, 8am to 4.30pm.

The Maryport centre is open Monday to Sunday, 8am to 6pm.
