Flood alerts have been issued for much of north Cumbria.
Carlisle, Bowness-on-Solway, Dalston, Caldbeck, Penrith, Appleby, Temple Sowerby, Pooley Bridge, Keswick, Cockermouth, Workington, Whitehaven, Cleator Moor, Egremont and a number of other areas have all been issued flood alerts by the Environment Agency after prolonged heavy rain.
The only flood warning - more serious that an alert - in place in north Cumbria at present is in the Keswick Campsite area.
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said this evening:
"Further rainfall is forecast overnight and river levels will remain high.
"We are closely monitoring the situation.
"Our incident response staff are checking defences.
"Please avoid using low lying footpaths and roads near rivers."
