A NATIONAL charity is hoping to raise awareness about a skin condition that affects more than 1.8 million people across the country.

The Psoriasis Association will mark Psoriasis , which begins on October 29, by answer people's questions about the different types of psoriasis.

The campaign will be called #KnowYourPso and will focus on a different type of psoriasis each day between October 29 and November 4.

This vital campaign will focus on plaque and scalp to Pustular and psoriatic arthritis and nails.

Helen McAteer, chief executive of the Psoriasis Association, said: “Psoriasis Awareness Week is an important time of year in which we can give a focus on specific aspects of the condition.

"This year we are using the outcomes of our Priority Setting Partnership study into the research priorities for psoriasis to highlight the different types of psoriasis and to help people better understand the condition.

“This means that we will be focusing on ‘types of psoriasis’ and will be featuring a different type each day chosen from those which are most often asked about on our forums, helpline and WhatsApp service.

“The work of the Psoriasis Association is three-fold, to raise awareness, provide information, advice and support and to fund and promote research. It is testament to our varied work practices that we are able to bring together insights from people living with psoriasis, people treating those living with psoriasis, and people researching the different aspects of psoriasis to increase our understanding."
