A SAFETY message has been issued after two fire crews attended an incident in Frizington during the night.
The fire service was called out at about midnight to what turned out to be someone burning some rubbish in their back garden. No action was needed.
A spokesman said: "It was a false alarm with good intent. It was a controlled burning, someone in their back garden was burning off some rubbish."
Two appliances attended - one from Frizington and one from Whitehaven.
"We turned up and it was under control," he said.
The crews checked the size of the fire and if it was breaching the clear air act and took no further action.
They have issued a safety message: "Think about your neighbours, consider the clean air act and what you are burning. Be considerate."
