Copeland Council has processed more than £15m worth of Covid-19-related financial support for businesses in the borough.
The business rates grant scheme, funded by the Government and administered by Copeland Council, had by September 8 supported 1,356 businesses in the borough, with a total value of £15.4m.
This is more than 90 per cent of the available fund provided by government.
The council understands that most of the remaining businesses are likely to be restricted from applying due to state aid.
A second discretionary grant scheme was launched between June 1 and 15.
The council received 167 applications for this scheme, and has paid out 100 per cent of the available fund, a total value of £853,250.
The intention of this second scheme was for councils to offer support to businesses that were unable to access any other Covid-19 cash grant schemes.
