THE LAKE District Foundation has launched a fundraising drive
The organisation is looking to raise £5,000 that would help clean up and restore areas that have seen a surge of visitors since the end of the covid-19 lockdown.
A spokesman for the organisation said: "The Lake District is known for its stunning mountains, fresh air and clean Lakes but we need your help to keep it that way.
"It's been welcoming visitors back after Covid-19 lockdown restrictions eased which is fantastic news for all those enjoying this spectacular place.
"However, the sheer volume of visitors is having a huge impact on the wildlife, landscapes and cultural heritage.
"During these unprecedented times, a small donation can make a big difference."
For example he says a £10 donation could help pay for litter bags.
