A training provider has made an important new appointment.

Amanda Towers has been made the new general manager for Gen2, which has offices in Workington, Sellafield Carlisle, Ulverston and London.

Amanda has been appointed following the retirement of Paul Storey.

She joins the organisation following a 20-year career with Cumbria County Council, most recently working as its senior manager for learning and skills.

Amanda, who began her career at Sellafield, said: “I am delighted to be appointed as Gen2’s new general manager and excited to take this next step in my career.

"Joining the City and Guilds Group provides a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference through skills for people, employers and the community.

"Gen2 is an amazing organisation who are committed to delivering high quality apprenticeship, degrees and short courses to meet business needs.

"I look forward to the future and helping to deliver the solutions that allow our customers to thrive and succeed in Cumbria and beyond.”

Gen2 was established in 2000 as an employer-owned training provider in West Cumbria.

It is now part of the City and Guilds Group and is one of the UK’s largest training providers to the nuclear sector.

It works with over 200 employers to provide apprenticeships, further education, higher education and a wide range of specialist courses.

Gen2 was assessed as outstanding in its latest OFSTED report.
