THE GOVERNMENT has extended the list of venues where face coverings are mandatory but there are some exemptions.
Face coverings must now be worn by law in cinemas, beauty salons, on public transport and in premises providing professional support such as law offices. However, some people are exempt from this rule. Public Health England does not recommend that children under three wear a face covering for health and safety reasons and the exemption extends to all children up to the age of 11.
Employees of indoor settings and transport workers need not wear a face masks throughout the day but they may consider their use where necessary.
Emergency services are also exempt if wearing a mask would interfere in their duties. Masks can be removed if speaking to someone who requires lip reading.
