A string of power cuts have been announced across Cumbria.

Electricity North West have announced the outages on their website, it follows on from the black outs affecting 40,000 homes after Monday night's thunder and lightening storms.

Two black outs have hit the CA10 postcode, the first at 1.01pm which has hit 20 properties, power is expected to be restored at 4.29pm.

The second was reported at 12.57pm where 80 homes were hit, power is expected to be returned at 4.21pm.

Both the above incidents were due to an "unexpected incident" on high voltage cables.

Another incident was reported at 11,45am, in the CA17 postcode area, where seven properties were reported to have lost power, again due to an incident with high voltage cables.

At 11.45am a black-out hit Penrith, again in the CA10 postcode area - 12 properties were hit and power is expected to be restored at 3.06pm.

Also at 11.45am Electricity North West announced a black-out in the CA17 area, seven properties were hit and power is expected to be restored shortly.

A black out was also announced at 10.37am this morning in Workington, the CA14 postcode area - 35 homes were affected and the company expects power to be restored about 5pm.
