TWO more people have died at Royal Bolton Hospital after contracting coronavirus.

Figures released by Public Health England confirmed that two more patients had died at the borough's hospital after contracting covid-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths to 229. Both patients died on Monday.

These two deaths were part of seven reported across Greater Manchester today, with the figures showing one patient in the care of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, one at Salford Royal Hospital, and three patients at Tameside General Hospital had all died with covid-19.

Yesterday, one new death was reported at the borough's hospital, the first new coronavirus-related death in 25 days.

Today, 21 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed across the borough. 

A total of 2,040 people have now tested positive for covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. 

Sixteen of the latest positive tests came from people who were tested on Monday, one person who was tested on Sunday, and two people who were tested on Saturday. 

The final two people were tested on Friday. 

All of these cases were reported in the 24 hours between 9am on Tuesday morning, and 9am today.
