Moor Row FC has been given the green light to start an under-8s girls team from the FA.
They are looking to start the team in September and would like girls that are interested in the sport to get in touch.
Genna Fleming, of Moor Row FC, said the interest for the under-8s team began within her own family.
She said their little girl, Lillie-Mae, is football mad, and is keen to play, which has sparked a search for other other under-8s to form a team.
Genna said: “When it is safe to do so we will have a Zoom meeting with all the coaches and welfare officers and see where we go from there to set up the teams.”
The club caters for every age group of boys and currently has two other age groups in the girls’ teams, the under-12s and under-15s.
She added: “We are hoping for a lot of interest in the under-8s team. We started the girls’ teams last year and the interest grew and grew.”
Moor Row FC under-8s will train at their pitch at Frizington and also at an all-weather pitch at Valley School, Mirehouse.
Any parents who have girls interested in taking up the sport should contact Genna or her husband Adam on 07834 698420 or the Moor Row FC Facebook page.
