A dance teacher has completed a tap challenge in aid of the NHS, just in time for the British institution’s birthday.

Karen Starkey, 56, of Low Moresby, runs The Starkey School of Theatre Dance in Whitehaven.

Following the outbreak of Covid-19, Karen wanted to give-back to frontline NHS staff and carers including those related to her students.

“A lot of the parents work for the NHS so that was what started it.”

The challenge, which Karen completed on July 5, the anniversary of the NHS, involved 50,748 double-time steps.

She has raised £980 on Just Giving so far.

Karen said that the dance challenge has given her something to focus on during the coronavirus lockdown: “It’s been a very worthwhile thing to do. it’s kept my hand in doing some dancing.

Karen is looking forward to reopening her dance school in the future: “We’re all missing eachother.”

“It’s given me a bit of structure” she said.

Although she has finished the challenge, there is still time to donate.
