This year's Race for Life is yet another victim of the coronavirus pandemic, with the Bitts Park event being cancelled due to restrictions.
But over the year there have been hundreds of runners from across the area who have taken part in the races to raise awareness and funds for Cancer Research – a cause close to many hearts.
We thought we would take a look back in The Whitehaven News archives to spot just some of the runners who have pulled on their trainers and took to the course for such a worthy cause.
Teams and individuals, businesses and full families have taken part, some running the course and others walking and sharing stories along the way. But all with a common goal.
Take a look through our pictures and see if you can spot any familiar faces over the years.
