To ensure youngsters have the right skills and understanding of cycling on roads, schools are being urged to sign up to a nationwide initiative.
The Bikeability scheme was cancelled in April due to coronavirus but, with lockdown coming to an end, pupils across the county will be heading back out on their bikes soon.
Additional funding to improve cycling and walking initiatives was recently announced by the government, and with more than one million bikes sold during lockdown schools are being encouraged to take part from September onwards.
The scheme aims to provide children with the right tools to ride safely on today's roads, staying safe while having fun and getting their exercise.
