The NHS in north Cumbria is encouraging its staff to nominate colleagues or those in their communities who have gone the extra mile during the Covid-19 outbreak for a national honour.

The UK Government is seeking nominations from members of the public for national honours to be awarded in recognition of the work done in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

And the North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Trust, which runs the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle, the West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven and a number of community hospitals across north Cumbria, is calling on its extensive roster of staff to nominate colleagues or members of their community who have gone above and beyond during the crisis.

"We know everyone has pulled together and gone above and beyond their normal duties during this unusual and difficult time, but if there is someone you like deserves recognition then this is how you can nominate them for a national honour," a spokesman for the trust said.

Anyone who wants to nominate someone can do so, and the Government is keen to hear about anyone who has done the following: "Frontline work supporting the most vulnerable members of society and those who have caught Covid-19, providing critical care to Covid-19 patients, developing innovations to support the vulnerable and those with Covid-19, going to extraordinary lengths to keep critical services going, [or] volunteering in the community or for service organisations in support of those affected by Covid-19."

The form needed to submit a nomination can be found here.
