A collection of clothes and shoes to support the Great North Air Ambulance Service has been so successful that there will be another drop-in-day event held next week.

Jordan Mattinson, who organised the collection at Whitehaven Rugby Union Football Club, has announced there will be another clothes drop-in-day at the same venue on Thursday July 9, from 10am to 3pm.

The GNAAS thanked Jordan and the rugby club for managing to collect 10 tonnes of clothes and shoes for the charity in just five hours, which will be turned into around £10,000 for the emergency service from the items collected.

The clothing and shoes were donated by the public after more than 200 shares on Facebook. Jordan is hoping that the public will be able to beat their 10 tonne total at next week's weigh in.
