After having to postpone two of their top events, Wigton Motor Club have announced a series of initiatives to boost their activities when sporting and social events resume.

Due to the current coronavirus restrictions, both the club’s premier events – the Lake District Classic Rally and the Cumbria Classic Show – have had to be postponed.

With few events being run this year, all current members will get free membership for 2021 while all new members who are under 25 will also get free membership.

And once the club gets the go-ahead to resume, there will be monthly breakfast meets, either at the club’s headquarters, the Motor House, or at other venues in north Cumbria.

A spokesman added: “It is hoped to move to an online membership system while the possibility of a club simulator is being considered.”

The club are still active on their Facebook page and their 700 members are said to be busy planning ahead for events, preparing their competition cars or restoring classic and vintage ones.
