A charity has thanked supporters after they managed to collect 10 tonnes of clothes and shoes in just five hours.
Great North Air Ambulance Service thanked Jordan Mattinson and all at the Whitehaven Rugby Union Football Club for organising a drop-in day to collect the bags of unwanted clothing.
They managed to gather 10 tonnes of clothing and shoes worth around £10,000 for the emergency service.
The items filled seven vans.
They said that all the clothing and shoes were donated by the public after more than 200 shares on Facebook.
The GNAAS is currently looking for people who live in or around Workington and Carlisle to set up a similar community collection point for clothing. Anyone that can help out is asked to call them on 01325 308 139.
