Plans are underway to implement social distancing measures around town centres in Copeland.
Copeland Council is working with Cumbria County Council to support the initiative to ensure social distancing is maintained.
It comes as town centres get busier following the easing of coronavirus restrictions and more essential shops reopening on Monday.
The county council alerted residents to the changes through its social media channels.
“Please note that we are working with Copeland Council around arrangements to support social distancing in town centres," it said.
“New advisory signage and pedestrian management arrangements will be installed at sensitive locations in line with public health guidance regarding Covid-19.
“We expect this to be in place by the end of this week.”
The changes could also affect traffic and pedestrian routes, in line with public health guidance.
