A Cumbrian security company has launched a new range of products in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Carlisle-based Camtec Security has introduced screening systems that monitor people’s body temperature before they enter a property to alert any potential for Covid-19 symptoms.
Managing director Alan Sykes stated it had started selling the systems, which were inbuilt within CCTV and access control units, in the belief that screening goes hand-in-hand with social distancing to “improve public confidence”.
He said: “I, like most people want to get back to normal, or some normality in society as quick as possible. A way to do that is to rebuild peoples confidence and having a system which can scan peoples temperature just before they enter a property is quick and easy.
“These systems are not new but usually incredibly expensive, you often only see them at airports so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to make arrangements with one of our suppliers which makes them widely accessible for retail shops and businesses for the first time.
“The system itself is accurate, fast and easy to operate and as businesses come out of lock down and reopen to the public, it will instil both reassurance that all possible measures are being taken to protect staff and the public.”
To purchase one of these units outright it could cost as much as £2,000, but under the scheme Camtec Security has put together business canhave one installed on a payment plan of as low as £20 a week.
The camera detects surface skin temperature on a ‘non-contact’ basis and indicates in seconds if they are outside the ‘normal’ range.
