PLANS for 200 new homes in Gretna are underway and members of the public are being asked to help shape the delivery of the scheme.

Alba Developments acquired the town's old golf course last year which already had planning permission in principle granted by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

The developer is holding an online consultation event on Thursday, between 4pm and 8pm, to give people a chance to view the proposals. Consultants will be available throughout the event to answer questions and receive feedback.

The proposed scheme consists of a mixture of two and three-bedroom bungalows and terraced houses and four-bedroom family homes, including 20 percent affordable housing.

The site will also include open space and new cycleway and footpath connections.

Shane Tickelpenny, Alba Developments' managing director, said:“We are delighted to be putting forward our proposals to the local community for this exciting development and look forward to the public’s involvement in shaping these proposals.

“These are unusual times and ordinarily we would be looking to organise an event in the local area but, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scottish Government has issued guidance allowing this kind of online engagement event.

“We are very proud of our plans at Gretna and hope it will inject new life to the town. This site will bring much needed family and affordable homes to the area and our investment will generate an economic boost and attract new families to the area.”
