A HOTEL in the Lake District is on the market for £3m.

Miller Howe Hotel and Restaurant in Windermere features 15 bedrooms and was constructed in 1916.

It is on the market with estate agents Colliers International.

According to an online listing, Victorian journalist and novelist harrier Martineau described the location as 'a view unsurpassed for beauty in the whole Lake District'.

The hotel was said to have been recently refurbished and sympathetically restored to its 'former glory'.

It was formerly owned by celebrity chef John Tovey.
