A Lake District artist’s latest piece, commissioned by Avanti West Coast, promotes the message that the region is still closed to visitors.
Leave the Fells to the Sheep by Sophie Martin of Levens is part of a series of works depicting the West Coast Main Line with the message that the Lake District is still closed to visitors while the Covid-19 pandemic is ongoing.
A spokesperson for Avanti West Coast said: We’re lucky to serve beautiful destinations along the West Coast Main Line but whilst the UK responds to COVID-19, our vital services are for those making essential journeys or have no alternative to use public transport.”
Sophie said: “Herdwick sheep and outdoors activities epitomise the Lake District for me so this seemed the perfect combination to get the message across. Hopefully people will take heed and not travel to the area unnecessarily and leave the fells to our woolly friends to enjoy for now!"
