Businesses have revealed the extent of Covid-19's financial impact in the latest survey from Cumbria’s Business and Economic Response and Recovery Group.

The group, also known as BERRG, of the Local Resilience Forum have held an open survey with responses from 896 businesses, charities and other organisations in Cumbria.

The aim was to understand the impact Covid-19 has had on Cumbrian businesses and the county's economy. Responses were higher from sectors most likely to be closed due to the pandemic, with 36.4% coming from the accommodation and food services sector. Comparisons with a survey from the Office of National Statistics show that Cumbrian businesses are more likely to have stopped trading or have operated under a skeleton staff as opposed to businesses nationally.
