The public are being asked to use water saving techniques during a period of high demand.

United Utilities has seen an increase in water demand due to hot weather and more people at home during the coronavirus pandemic.

Key workers of United Utilities have been working hard to keep up with additional demand.

A spokesman said: “Since lockdown our fantastic key workers have delivered an extra 4.6 billion litres of water to support all our communities through this unprecedented time.”

The supplier is asking the public to save water using economical techniques like planting drought resistant plants when gardening, turning off the tap while brushing their teeth and using a washing up bowl rather than letting the water run for longer.
