Two men are today in the middle of a 24-hour charity challenge in memory of a 29-year-old woman.

Megan Stephenson died on March 18. After her death, her family learned that Megan had lived the majority of her adult life with underlying heart conditions.

Her fiancé Stu Green and friend Glenn Howard have taken on a 24-hour cycle to raise funds for the cardiology department at Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary, and raise awareness of undiagnosed heart problems.

Stu said: “Megan was brave, enthusiastic, loving and inspiring with everything she encountered in life. This is our opportunity to help give something back and support the NHS in Megan’s memory.”

Glenn added: “The cardiology department worked tirelessly and provided incredible care throughout the procedure. The comfort they provided Stu and Megan’s family is something they are eternally grateful for.”

The duo were due to start at 12:01am today, and finish at 12:01am tomorrow. They will bike one hour on, one hour off, continuously.

The pair added: “We both have family and friends who work for the NHS, as well as having personal experience of how amazing the staff are. We are grateful for all your support as we tackle this epic challenge. Thank you, from Glenn and Stu.”

Stu and Glenn have already raised more than £3,000 and hope to raise more during the challenge.
