A council has asked the public to look out for children and adults who may be at risk during the coronavirus pandemic.
Copeland Council is working with Cumbria Safeguarding Children Partnership to keep young people safe under the extraordinary circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In a post to social media, the council said: “This will be a difficult time for lots of families and families may be making different care arrangements for their children.”
With families experiencing stress and isolation from support networks, the council has asked the public to call the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub on 03332 401727 to report concern for a child.
It has also issued guidance to adults on staying safe during the pandemic asking them to only use trusted groups. The public is advised to ask cold-callers to leave a contact number if they are unsure the offer of help is legitimate.
If you believe an adult is at risk of abuse or neglect call 0300 303 3249.
