The NHS Trust in north Cumbria has welcomed another 10 newly-qualified junior doctors to its ranks.

The doctors have joined a few months early to help out straight away with the response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Normally newly-qualified doctors begin their Foundation Training Programme in August, but given the ongoing Covid-19 situation these new arrivals have have volunteered to help tackle the crisis straight away.

They will be supporting the existing clinical workforce based at the Cumberland Infirmary, shadowing more experienced junior doctors.

The new doctors join 11 others who volunteered recently to work with the trust before their scheduled start date.

Some will stay on at the trust beyond August, when their programme officials begins.
