A Whitehaven man is now selling fashion face masks to help locals fight the pandemic as well as putting a smile on their faces.

Bradley Hannah suffered a dip in trade with his recruitment company following the coronavirus outbreak.

But he has now launched a website selling fashion face masks to help people better protect themselves.

Bradley, 28, of The Highlands, said: "I did it to shed light on a dark situation. I felt there was a lack of face bands available and if through this, these bands contribute to minimising the spread of disease, why not?

"And why not make people laugh with our cool, quirky prints."

Designs include prints with smiling monkeys, flowers, lions and kittens, but custom designs can be requested.

They are priced at £11.99 each and they are delivered in three to five days.

They are made of 100% polyester microfibre with an inner layer in semi combed cotton.

Bradley said: "When it all happened with the coronavirus, you couldn't find face masks anywhere and there was an opportunity for somebody to come up with this idea."

Bradley said he will also be donating £1 from each mask to the NHS.

"It's important to support them because they're on the frontline."

Bradley believes there is a reluctance in Western countries to use face masks and he is hoping fashionable designs may make people more willing to wear them.

He added: "Western countries are experiencing higher rates of COVID-19 infections compared to Asian countries because of the West's aversion to wearing face masks.

"With our fashionable prints we hope to aid in lowering COVID-19's virality.

"It's not a miracle thing, but we hope it will help."
