SUPERMARKETS across the country are doing their bit to help the elderly and vulnerable throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.

In particular, many superstore chairs have set up dedicated hours for these groups to shop when other customers are not in store.

Here's a list of the dedicated hours for the elderly and vulnerable:

n Sainsburys - Thursday, the first hour of opening

n Tesco - Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9am to 10am. Except express stores

n Asda - Friday, from the store opening until 9am

n M&S - Monday and Thursday, the first hour of opening

n Iceland - The first hour of opening everyday

n Morrisons - Monday to Saturday, 9am to 10am

n Waitrose - The first hour of opening everyday

n Aldi - Check local stores

n Lidl - Check local stores

Now, alongside special hours for elderly and vulnerable shoppers, supermarket chains have started to introduce similar “golden hours” for NHS staff, upon presenting their NHS ID.

Dedicated hours for NHS workers include:

n Tesco - One hour ahead of opening on a Sunday

n Sainsburys - 7.30am to 8am Monday to Saturday

n Asda - Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8am to 9am

n Morrisons - Monday to Saturday, 7am to 8am

n M&S - First hour of opening on Tuesday and Friday

n Aldi - 9.30am - 10am on Sunday

Waitrose aren’t setting aside a specific time for NHS workers to do their shopping, they are setting aside “hard-to-find” and “essential products” exclusively for NHS staff.
