Orgill Primary School at Egremont has had an application for an extension approved.
The school had applied to build a single storey extension for additional nursery and early years accommodation under application number 4/20/9001/0F2.
The application says there is to be a secure play area created on an area of hardstanding.
Welded mesh fencing will secure the play area and the extension will be built using materials which will match existing materials.
Cumbria County Council approved the decision for the extension on February 17.
The extension will add to existing Early Years Foundation Stage provision which is currently a large unit with five open plan teaching areas, its own cloakroom and toilets. An outdoor play area with safety flooring, extensive grassed areas, woodland and willow house.
The extension will help to provide the school with space after the infant and junior schools were amalgamated in 1998.
