A man who was more than twice over the legal drink-drive limit has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 42 months.

Benjamin David Sloan, 27, of Jericho Road, Whitehaven, pleaded guilty to drink-driving before North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court on Friday.

Magistrates heard that Sloan was driving a motor vehicle on February 2 on Washington Street, Workington, when the incident occurred.

He was found to have 78mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Sloan must also carry out 50 hours of unpaid community work, pay £85 costs and a £90 victim surcharge.
