A LIBRARY which had been set to move at the end of next month will now remain open for the time being.

Baildon Town Council confirmed that Baildon Library will stay in the Ian Clough Hall building after March 31, this year.

It had previously been announced in September last year that the community building was to be closed on March 31, 2020, and later demolished, due to high maintenance costs.

The library based in the building would move to another location.

This latest news presents a u-turn on that decision, but both Bradford Council and Baildon Town Council are attempting to find a suitable alternative for the library service.

The ground floor of the Ian Clough Building will still be closing on the March 31.

Baildon Town Council has also received confirmation from Bradford Council that their current lease to run a hybrid library with Bradford Library Services, will be extended to March 31, 2021.

A spokesperson for Baildon Town Council said: "We will work positively with Bradford Council to continue the library service within Baildon beyond 2020."
