Fourteen flood alerts and one flood warning are now in place across Cumbria as water levels continue to rise.

The Environment Agency is warning that flooding is possible in various areas.

Flood alerts are in place for the following areas:

  • Lower River Eden;
  • Rivers Esk and Irthing;
  • Rivers Wampool and Ellen;
  • Rivers Caldew and Petteril;
  • Middle River Eden;
  • Rivers Cocker, Marron and Derwent;
  • Rivers Greta, St John's Beck and Bassenthwaite Lake;
  • Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwentwater;
  • Rivers Lowther and Eamont;
  • Upper River Eden;
  • Rivers Ehen, Calder, Irt and Esk;
  • Rivers Brathay, Rothay and Winster;
  • Rivers Kent and Bela;
  • Rivers Duddon, Crake and Mill Beck.

Heavy rain is forecast overnight and into tomorrow morning.

Two Met Office weather warnings for rain are in force. One is for the Scottish Borders and the other is for east and south Cumbria.

Both warnings are in place until tomorrow (February 20).
