Young Whitehaven bright sparks have been keeping fit while turning a profit as part of an annual competition.
Run by the Workington-based Centre for Leadership Performance, the Bright Stars competition sees schoolchildren from across north and west Cumbria use their business skills to grow their initial £50 starting money.
One of the schools taking part, St James’ C of E Infant and Nursery School in Whitehaven, has been taking guidance from mentor Lee Butterworth, from Workington gym Xtreme Fitness.
Drawing on Lee’s advice, the children have developed exercise classes for adults and children and range of healthy snacks, under the name Simple Fitness.
Headteacher Michael Craig said: “The first two sessions for adults have been brilliant.
“We’re running another adult bootcamp at 5pm next Tuesday, at the community centre next door.”
