POLICE are investigating a robbery that happened in Workington.

The incident is said to have taken place at the Wash House, Nook Street, Workington on February 13, at about 6pm.

The offender entered the premises when it was left insecure by the owner and stolen money from the laundrette.

A spokesman for Cumbria police said: "Before the offender was able to leave the owner has returned and a scuffle has broken out between them resulting in the owner suffering an injured arm and knee.

"The offender had a metal bar with him and has also tried to get the owner's wallet but he refused.

"The offender ran away through St John's Church on Washington Street towards Peter Street."

A 36-year-old man from Workington was arrested on suspicion of robbery, he has been released under investigation.
