A DELIGHTED group of Whitehaven dancers have made it to the national final.

Two teams of Stage Stars Performance School dancers wowed the That's Showbiz judges at last month's semi-final, held at the iconic Blackpool Winter Gardens.

And the "diddy kids" and adult group are now making their way down to Liverpool for the contest's grand finale next weekend.

"It's such a great achievement for them, especially at their ages, to get to perform at such amazing venues," Stage Stars owner and dance teacher, Charlotte McGarry said.

"It's all about the kids – they've done so well! As a school, we'll be showcasing the dances the groups do in the final at our November show, and then will get back to competing in 2021."

At the semi-final, each of the three groups representing Stage Stars ranked sixth place or higher in their category, with the Toy Story dance coming sixth overall, 42nd Street coming fourth overall and Aladdin taking first place for the genre.

Charlotte and her Stage Stars staff – dance and drama teachers, Kayleigh Donald and Beth and Alex Clark – are all thrilled with the dancers' success, and can't wait for the final.
