Workington Town's all-time record points scorer will hope to close in on another milestone tomorrow when his side are due to welcome West Bowling to Derwent Park (2pm kick-off).

Carl Forber broke Iain MacCorquodale’s record of 1,800 points for Town after nearly 40 years last season and is just 10 goals away from matching MacCorquodale's goals tally for the club.

He has kicked 799 goals for the club since he first signed in 2007, with 794 conversions and penalties and five field goals.

But the prolific scorer may be forced to wait to add to his tally, with Storm Dennis set to batter the county a week after Storm Ciara caused the Challenge Cup tie to be postponed when it was originally due to be played.

Chairman Les Smallwood said the club would carry out pitch inspections today and tomorrow and pledged they would do "everything humanly possible" to get the game on.

He said: "We are expecting a lot of rain this weekend but we're really confident that the pitch will be playable. The issue will be the wind.

"The volunteers have been down all week again and the pitch and stadium are looking really well so credit to them.

"We are doing what we can to try and get the game on and a massive thank you to the volunteers. The safety of spectators and player welfare will have to come first."
