The brother of radio DJ Sara Cox has died at the West Cumberland Hospital, it has been reported.
At the weekend, a number of national newspapers claimed that David Cox died suddenly at the Whitehaven hospital on December 6, after suffering from an underlying heart condition.
Radio 2 DJ Sara has not yet commented publicly on her brother’s passing, but reports said she was left heartbroken by the news.
A Justgiving page to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation has been set up in Mr Cox’s memory.
It is understood Mr Cox, who was 56 when he died, lived near Bolton in the town of Little Lever.
An announcement in the Bolton News newspaper read: “Beloved partner to Linda, a loving son, father, brother, uncle and dear friend to many. Sadly missed.”
The family held a funeral on December 23 at St George’s Church, in Chorley.
